Church History

1974 - 1994

The Church relocated to 1411 Robinson Street in Jackson and became the Amazing Church of God in  Christ.  The  church  grew  in  membership   to approximately  500  members   and   increased  its auxiliary size to twenty-two, under the leadership of Superintendent Marcus L. Butler, who was assisted by three elders, five deacons and three trustees. In 1991,  Amazing  Church  of  God in Christ became Incorporated.

1968 - 1974

During this time the church was conceptualized in the city of Jackson, Mississippi as Rutledge Street Church of  God  in  Christ  with  Elder  Marcus  L.  Butler  as Pastor. Rutledge Street  grew  to  approximately  100 members with several active auxiliaries.

               1994 - Present

After twenty years at the Robinson Street location,  Amazing outgrew its 400 seat facility and relocated to its present address at  2603 West Capitol Street, Jackson, MS. On July 8, 1994, the name of the church was changed to the Amazing Institutional Church of God in Christ, Inc.  The current membership is approximately 600 members.   The current site has a 1300 seat sanctuary, four detached buildings with classroom accommodations for approximately 800 students;  a free standing activity center with a gymnasium and baguet facility to accommodate approximately 550; and a playground with an activity center. There are also serveral spacious parking lots.
